The Helene G. Simon Hillel Center is one of the premier Hillel Centers in the United States. Designed to feel like a home, the Hillel Center serves as the Jewish "home away from home" for over 3,500 Jewish students on the IU campus. Feel free to take a minute to read about our facilities.
Everyone knows that the center of any household is the kitchen. At Indiana Hillel, we have two completely kosher kitchens in our facility. Each week, Sue Newcomer, our Food Coordinator, prepares at least four meals; Monday Dairy Night, two Kosher Cafes, and Shabbat Dinner on Friday night. Our dining hall has a capacity of about 120, but not to worry. Unlike your house, we don't mind if you eat in the living room! Of course, the best part about eating at Hillel is that the leftovers are always free. Just stop by with an appetite, and help yourself to what you can find...just like grandma's house! The Helene G. Simon Hillel Center contains a number of facilities that will enhance your IU learning experience. Our library contains an extensive Judaic collection, and is utilized by both Jewish Studies students as well as by other students just satisfying their curiosity. The library is always a quiet place to study, alone or in small groups.
Our Student Office is another great resource here at the Hillel Center. With our computers that are connected to a lightning-fast broadband Internet connection, you can check your e-mail, work on a paper, or find information about educational programs to Israel, the former Soviet Union, and various other places around the world.
Our center also contains a full Cybex workout circuit, as well as exercise bikes and a treadmill. Students who have a Discover Hillel Card a welcome to come in and use the workout facilities during any of Hillel's operating hours.

When you walk into the Hillel Center, perhaps the first thing you'll notice are our students. Our building is constantly filled with the sounds of students coming and going, working, laughing, and occasionally, sleeping. Our goal is to make the Hillel Center a place where all students feel comfortable just "hanging out." You can watch TV on our big screen, shoot some pool, play a game of ping pong, or just flop on the couch and relax. The Helene G. Simon Hillel Center truly is your Jewish home away from home!
